Welcome
I’m delighted to send you details of the 2010 CIPD Scottish Conference, 'Tomorrow's People'. The conference is my first as CIPD Scottish Partnership Chair, and I am excited and looking forward to what is going to be an inspiring and thought provoking event for all who attend.
We all know that good people are at the core of any successful business, and our 2010 conference is all about how to attract, engage and motivate the best people to drive your organisation forward, both now and in the future towards Next Generation HR.
We’ve put together a first class programme, with a range of stimulating speakers who will offer numerous practical ideas, and lots of great advice for you to take away, implement, and really make a difference in your workplace.
Our keynote speakers are an exciting blend of ‘Tomorrow’s People’ and well known experts with years of experience in people management and development. We’re especially excited about our ‘Tomorrow’s People’ opening keynote, featuring two of Scotland’s most successful young entrepreneurs which will really get you thinking about how to engage with Generations Y and Z.
We’ve had a significant amount of positive feedback from people already, both from HR and other disciplines, who are delighted that Tony Buzan will be speaking at the conference. His afternoon Mind Mapping masterclass is a fantastic opportunity to learn a real life skill from the true master.
Once again, we are providing a comprehensive Employment Law day, with an overview of current and forthcoming employment law and an outline of some recent landmark cases from Toni McAlindin, plus a choice of interactive workshops run by four of Scotland's leading legal firms.
The programme also includes a diverse range of workshops, with different approaches to learning, to ensure that there’s something for everyone.
In terms of our venue, the Hydro’s multi million pound refurbishment is now complete, and I’m confident that you’ll be delighted with the changes, including the new restaurant, The Kailyard by Nick Nairn. We’re looking forward to Nick’s team cooking up something special for us at our Gala Dinner on the Thursday night, which also features a first class after dinner speaker, live music, and lots of opportunities to network.
In the current climate, I know that you’ll also be pleased to hear that we have gone to great lengths to keep our package and day delegate rates extremely competitive, and for the first time companies can benefit from our two day ‘shared rate’, which allows two people from the same organisation to attend on different days. We’re also offering an ‘early bird’ discount for anyone booking before the middle of January [now extended to 22nd January 2010], so do get your booking in as soon as you can to benefit.
I look forward to seeing you at the conference in March.
